HiveRisk, one of the UK’s most recognised compliance consultancies, has appointed Eloise Butterworth as its new Head of Risk & Compliance.
Eloise brings 18 years of experience working in law firms, having started as a fee earner before moving into risk and compliance in 2020. Since then, she has built and led risk functions, advised on regulatory strategy, and become a top 10 ranked Legal LinkedIn Influencer renowned for making compliance both relatable and practical.
At HiveRisk, Eloise will lead strategic projects designed to help clients shift from firefighting to foresight, embedding systems that can withstand regulatory scrutiny while supporting long-term growth.
She describes her approach as breaking down technical details, jargon, and complex rules into something bitesize, relatable, and easy to understand – creating those lightbulb moments for clients. Practical and commercially minded, she believes compliance should meet regulatory standards without restricting fee earners unnecessarily, always striving for the balance between effective risk management and operational efficiency.

Founded by solicitor and entrepreneur Kate Burt, HiveRisk supports law firms and RegTech providers with their risk, compliance, and fraud prevention strategies. Eloise’s appointment comes as firms face increasing regulatory pressures under the SRA’s anti-money laundering rules and the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act, prompting many to seek experienced partners to review their systems, close compliance gaps, and prepare for a tougher regulatory landscape.
