Law firm JMW has added an experienced duo to its real estate commercial team.

Ruth McCarthy has ventured from Kennedys LLP,  joining as a partner to lead the department alongside JMW partner Ian Gordon. She replaces Jim Banfi, who will continue to act as a consultant with the team.

In his role, Jim led the team acting for JMW client Brookhouse, in its acquisition agreements, securing planning and collaboration arrangements for its involvement in the 160 acre Cuerden Strategic Development Site near the M65 intersection. The site will host retail giant IKEA and offices, as well as logistics, employment and residential units in an investment worth over £400 million.

Ruth is a specialist in property finance but works across multiple areas of commercial real estate, with major experience in acting for borrowers and lenders.

Abdul Salam joins JMW’s real estate team as a partner from Gateley Plc where he had worked for over 15 years.

He works across all areas in commercial real estate but specialises in acquisitions and disposals of investment properties, owner/occupier work and acting for high net worth individuals.
