Clifford Chance said on Tuesday that it has hired Kasia Bojarojć, a Director of Mergers at the Competition and Markets Authority, as counsel in its global antitrust practice in London.
At the CMA she led complex Phase 1 and Phase 2 investigations, the firm said. No start date was given.
Before the CMA, Bojarojć spent around a decade in private practice advising on merger control and antitrust matters. That work included significant cross-border transactions and work for private equity clients.
Her sector experience spans technology, telecommunications, financial services, consumer markets, life sciences, and transport and infrastructure.
Nelson Jung, partner and head of London antitrust, said she would strengthen the practice “at a time when merger control and foreign investment regimes are becoming increasingly complex and are firmly on the boardroom agenda”.
He added that her “combination of senior CMA and extensive private practice experience will help our clients cut through complexity”.
Bojarojć said the firm “has an exceptional reputation for advising on the most complex and significant transactions globally”. She said she was looking forward to working with colleagues across the network “to help clients navigate an increasingly sophisticated regulatory environment”.
The CMA’s own approach to merger assessment was revised in September. Its Merger Assessment Guidelines, dated 3 September, supersede the 2010 guidelines. The CMA said its role and legal tests remain the same, and that it will have regard to the guidelines in Phase 1 and Phase 2 investigations.
Clifford Chance said the hire continues investment in its global antitrust practice, which has added 10 lateral partners since 2021.
The most recent were Vittorio Cottafavi and Stacy Frazier in Washington, DC. Cottafavi, who joined from the US Department of Justice, was announced on 6 October as the firm’s 11th lateral partner hire of 2026 across its US platform.
Frazier joined from UnitedHealth Group, where she managed a broad portfolio of antitrust issues, the firm said on 2 March.
Jung’s team is currently working on the antitrust aspects of BT Group’s acquisition of TalkTalk Telecommunications and PlatformX Communications out of administration. Jung and partner Philipp Girardet are among the antitrust lawyers on that matter.
The firm also lists Unilever’s US$45bn combination of Unilever Foods with McCormick among its recent antitrust and regulatory mandates.
