Law News aims to be accurate in everything it publishes. When we get something wrong, we put it right quickly and say so.

How to report an error

Email editor@lawnews.co.uk with the address of the article, the passage you think is wrong and, where you can, a link to the judgment, decision or official source that shows the correct position. If you are a party to a case we have reported, or you act for one, please say so.

What we do

We check every report against the source documents. If a fact is wrong, we correct the article and add a dated note at the foot explaining what was changed. Spelling and other minor slips that do not change the meaning are fixed without a note.

If a court later varies, overturns or anonymises a decision we reported, or a regulator withdraws or amends an outcome, we update the article to reflect that and note the date of the change.

Where a report raises a legal concern, such as a reporting restriction or a complaint about the accuracy of a court report, we review it straight away and may take the article down while we do.

Right of reply

If you are named in an article and want to respond, contact us at the same address. Where it is relevant and fair to do so, we will add your response to the article.

Our wider standards are set out in our Editorial and Advertising Policy.
