Judge at RTPI Awards Revealed as Karen Jones

Karen Jones to Judge at RTPI Awards

RTPI South East Awards for Planning Excellence will be judged by Blandy & Blandy partner Karen Jones, head of the firm’s Planning & Environmental Law team.

According to the organisers: “Our coveted awards recognise and highlight the positive contribution planning professionals make in the communities we serve around the world. The RTPI South East Awards for Planning Excellence 2023 showcase and celebrate the best plans, people and projects.”

Karen is a highly regarded planning and environmental lawyer with over 30 years’ experience. She has been a legal associate of the Royal Town Planning Institute (LARTPI) since 2007 and holds both an LLB (Hons) Law and LLM Environmental Law from University College London. She previously taught at the College of Law and has lectured at the University of Reading’s renowned School of Real Estate & Planning, part of Henley Business School.

Blandy & Blandy was ranked among the UK’s top 15 Planning Law firms in Planning magazine’s 2022 Planning Law Survey and is consistently recognised as a top tier firm in the UK’s leading guides to law firms, Chambers UK and The Legal 500. Karen has also been individually recommended in both guides, with the latter naming her a ‘leading individual’ in the field, and she was acknowledged as one of the top 10 Planning Law solicitors in the UK in the 2020 Planning Law Survey.

Karen said: “I am proud of my LARTPI status which brings an extra dimension to my legal input on projects. I welcome this opportunity to be involved in the Awards and to have the chance to give back to the RTPI by participating as a member of their panel.”

The categories include ‘Best Plan’, ‘Best Project’, ‘Planning Authority of the Year’, ‘Small Planning Consultancy of the Year’ and ‘Young Planner of the Year’.

The event will be held in June 2023, with the winners then entered into the RTPI’s national awards.
