Let’s be honest. Sending a gift overseas can turn into a headache fast. You pick something nice, you pack it carefully, you send it off… and then it sits in customs for two weeks. Or your recipient gets a bill they weren’t expecting.

We’ve seen it happen. A lot. That’s why we changed how we do things.

What Makes International Shipping Tricky

Here’s the problem. International shipping isn’t like sending a package down the street. There are rules. Lots of them. And they change depending on where you’re sending.

Some countries don’t allow food or alcohol. Others need special paperwork. Perishable items? Forget it. They almost never make it through.

Delivery times are another issue. You might be looking at 2 days. Or 13. It’s not always predictable.

And then there’s cost. Shipping fees vary wildly. Just when you think you’ve covered everything, import duties can show up on your recipient’s doorstep. That’s not the kind of surprise anyone wants.

How We Handle It

We’ve run into these problems enough times to know how to avoid them.

We work with local partners. We have trusted suppliers in each country. Your gift is sourced and sent locally. That means faster delivery, lower costs, and fewer customs headaches.

Free delivery to many places. We offer free standard delivery to plenty of European destinations, including Belgium.

No invoice in the box. We never include a receipt or price tag. Your recipient won’t know what you spent, and they won’t get hit with unexpected fees.

Tracking, so you’re not guessing. You and your recipient get tracking details. You can see where the gift is at every stage.

A personal touch. Every gift comes with a message from you. You write it. We include it.

What to Put in a Gift Hamper for International Delivery

Choosing the right items makes a big difference. Here’s what we’ve learned.

Go for non-perishable items. Fresh food can spoil or get stopped at customs. Packaged goods like chocolates, biscuits, coffee, tea, or wine are much safer.

Think about local tastes. What works in France might not work in the Nordics. In France, artisanal wines and cheeses are popular. In the Nordics, sustainable and practical items are appreciated. In the UK, a good gourmet hamper is always a safe bet.

Keep it culturally appropriate. Avoid anything that might offend. Alcohol isn’t suitable for Muslim recipients. Some cultures avoid certain colours or numbers. It’s worth checking first.

Add a personal note. This is the most important part. A handwritten message shows you’ve taken the time to think about them. It’s simple, but it means everything.

What to Leave Out

Some items are best avoided.

Perishable items. Fresh food and flowers don’t always survive the journey.

Liquids. Some couriers restrict them for international delivery.

Restricted items. Check local rules. Some countries ban certain foods, alcohol, or other common gifts.

Loud branding. Big logos make a gift feel like advertising. Keep it subtle.
