TV Edwards Solicitors Welcomes Alia Lewis as Partner and Head of Public Law Children

TV Edwards Solicitors is pleased to announce the appointment of Alia Lewis as Partner and Head of Public Law Children. Widely recognised for her expertise in children and family law, Alia is particularly renowned for her work representing neurodivergent individuals and families. Her appointment strengthens the firm’s Family team, which now comprises three partners, and underscores TV Edwards’ continued commitment to delivering specialist and comprehensive family law services.

Alia’s legal career began at TV Edwards in 2002, where she joined as a paralegal before qualifying as a solicitor and achieving children law accreditation. After leaving the firm in 2012 to focus on her family, she later joined Duncan Lewis Solicitors, where she founded the UK’s first dedicated autism and ADHD specialist legal unit.

This groundbreaking initiative was recognised nationally, earning Alia the Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year Award for Children’s Rights in 2023.

As co-founder of FLANC (Family Law Advice for the Neurodivergent Community), Alia has been a leading voice in promoting systemic change within the family justice system. Her lived experience as the parent of an autistic child underpins her passionate, trauma-informed approach to advocacy.

Alia specialises in complex public and private children law (16.4) cases which often involving highly sensitive issues such as fabricated or induced illness (FII), non-accidental injury, substance misuse and mental health. Care proceedings, deprivation of liberty, secure accommodation and special guardianship are all areas of expertise. Alia represents both children and adults and regularly conducts her own advocacy.

Alia is recognised in Chambers UK for her excellence in family law and has been named a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Champion. She is also listed as a Next Generation Partner and Recommended Lawyer in The Legal 500.
