International law firm Haynes Boone has hired restructuring partner Linton Bloomberg from Reed Smith to join its London office, where he will lead the London Restructuring Team alongside partner Michael Mulligan. The firm said the move would help expand the reach of its US-based restructuring practice group into the UK.
Bloomberg has more than 25 years of experience advising on complex restructurings, insolvencies and related disputes. Before joining Reed Smith he practised at Weil, Gotshal & Manges and at Jones Day.
He advises financial institutions, insolvency practitioners, private equity sponsors and corporate boards on creditor and debtor representations, out-of-court restructurings, insolvency litigation and financial services matters.
Over the past two decades Bloomberg has worked on a number of high-profile restructuring matters, including those involving Lehman Brothers, MF Global, BHS and TGI Fridays. He has also spent a period on secondment with the Bank of England’s Financial Stability Division, where he worked on restructuring frameworks, financial stability issues and regulatory matters.
“The rise of Texas as a leading venue for major Chapter 11 cases coincides with the growing use of English restructuring plans by U.S.-linked businesses. These developments are bringing the UK and U.S. restructuring markets closer together,” Bloomberg said. “Haynes Boone is exceptionally well positioned in that space, and the opportunity to grow the team and help build an integrated cross-border restructuring practice at this point in the firm’s expansion in London is exciting and was a major draw.”
Nick Davis, London office managing partner at Haynes Boone, said: “Linton is widely recognized in the market for his work on high-profile, complex restructurings. His experience enhances our ability to support clients on cross-border matters and strengthens the connection between our London and U.S. restructuring teams. This is an important strategic hire for the London office, and we are delighted to welcome him to the team.”
Kelli Norfleet, Haynes Boone’s restructuring chair, said: “Linton adds immediate depth to our restructuring bench. He has handled some of the most sophisticated matters in the market and brings a unique combination of restructuring, litigation and regulatory experience that strengthens how we support clients.”
Haynes Boone’s restructuring practice group has represented clients in the Saks Global and LYCRA Chapter 11 restructurings, and handles complex out-of-court restructurings and Chapter 11 cases across industries including energy, technology, retail and healthcare.
Bloomberg is the sixth partner to join Haynes Boone’s London office in 2026. The other five hires this year came across disputes, arbitration, real estate, fund finance and tax: International Disputes Chair Louise Woods, International Arbitration Partner Philipp Kurek, Real Estate Partner Angus Ford, Fund Finance Partner Jeremy Cross and Tax Partner Alexandra Ueno-Park.
