Sam Fellows starts work on May 5th as Clifton Ingram’s newest partner, bringing more than ten years of property litigation experience to the firm’s Farnham office.
The appointment targets a gap. Fellows specialises in leasehold enfranchisement and statutory lease extensions—areas where legislative reform has created complexity for landlords and tenants navigating the Leasehold Reform, Housing and Urban Development Act 1993. He also handles business lease renewals under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954, boundary disputes, adverse possession claims, restrictive covenants, and rights of way.
His track record suggests someone who builds rather than inherits. At Iliffes Booth Bennett in Uxbridge, Fellows spent six years managing high-value cases through County and High Court proceedings. Later, at Field Seymour Parkes in Reading and Knights in Weybridge—where he made Senior Associate in 2023—he developed self-sufficient caseloads at each firm. That pattern matters to a partnership evaluating long-term contribution.
Fellows trained at Maples Teesdale in the City of London before shifting to suburban practice. Along the way, he supervised trainees at two firms, a detail that signals capacity beyond billable hours.
“What drew me to Clifton Ingram was the calibre of its people and the genuine breadth of work across the firm’s offices,” Fellows said. “I am looking forward to playing an active role in building a team that approaches litigation with pragmatism and empathy, and has the resources to handle complex matters to the highest standard.”
The hire reinforces Clifton Ingram’s dispute resolution capabilities across Berkshire and Surrey, where the Legal 500-ranked firm advises businesses and private clients. Jonathan Foulds, Managing Partner and Head of Commercial Property, acknowledged the strategic value.
“We are delighted to welcome Sam to the partnership,” Foulds said. “He brings a formidable depth of experience in property litigation, and his specialist knowledge in leasehold matters is a particularly valuable addition to the team. Sam’s appointment is a reflection of our ongoing commitment to investing in the right expertise to serve our clients well, and we look forward to seeing the contribution he will make to the firm.”
Clifton Ingram operates from offices in Farnham, Reading, and Wokingham. The addition of Fellows expands the firm’s capacity to handle contentious property work at a time when leasehold reform continues reshaping obligations for freeholders and leaseholders alike. His expertise in rights of first refusal under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1987 adds another dimension to the team’s technical range.
For a full-service firm competing across multiple jurisdictions, the move signals intent. Fellows doesn’t arrive to maintain existing work—he arrives to generate it.
