Joelson has made its third senior appointment to its employment practice in under two years, bringing Jennifer Mansoor into the partnership. The 15-year employment law specialist joins the West End firm’s expanding team.

Mansoor arrives with expertise spanning both contentious and advisory work—from boardroom workforce planning to Employment Tribunal scraps. Her client roster cuts across retail, hospitality, media, technology, professional services, recruitment, healthcare and the charity sector.

The move follows Jonathan Bruck’s arrival as partner and head of employment in 2024. Joelson has also added solicitors and associates to the department over the same period.

Her practice focuses on the thorny end of employment law. Workplace investigations. Restrictive covenant battles. Senior departures that need careful handling. She also works directly with executives negotiating their way out—untangling compensation, bonus structures and equity stakes.

On the advisory side, Mansoor operates at board level. Strategic workforce planning. Complex employee relations. Organisational restructuring.

The hiring pattern reflects surging demand for partner-led employment advice, particularly from businesses expanding nationally or internationally. Workforce issues—once relegated to HR departments—now land on boardroom agendas with increasing frequency.

Paul Chiappe, Joelson’s managing partner, pointed to Mansoor’s track record. “We are delighted to welcome Jennifer to Joelson as a Partner. She has a brilliant track record advising businesses and senior executives on complex and strategic employment matters, and will enhance the depth and seniority of our Employment practice,” he said. “Her pragmatic, solutions-driven approach and commitment to building long-term client relationships make her an excellent fit for Joelson.”

West End legal practices have competed fiercely for senior employment talent as regulatory complexity and workforce disputes have multiplied. Employment Tribunal claims, restrictive covenant litigation and executive exit negotiations have all intensified since 2020, pushing companies to seek heavyweight legal counsel earlier in disputes.

For Joelson, the appointments signal ambition in a practice area where clients increasingly want direct partner access rather than work delegated down the ranks. Growing businesses—particularly those operating across borders—face layered employment law challenges that demand both technical precision and commercial judgment.

Mansoor acknowledged the firm’s reputation in the market. “I am thrilled to be joining Joelson at an exciting time for the Employment and Immigration team. The firm’s reputation for delivering pragmatic, commercially focused advice to businesses and senior executives strongly aligns with my own approach,” she said. “I look forward to supporting clients as they navigate increasingly complex workforce challenges and to playing an active role in the continued growth and development of the Employment practice.”

The employment and immigration practice now operates as a distinct pillar within Joelson’s offering, which spans corporate, real estate, litigation and immigration work. The firm’s West End location positions it to serve both established London businesses and international companies establishing or expanding UK operations.

Whether the hiring continues into 2025 will likely depend on sustained client demand. For now, the pattern is clear: Joelson is building muscle in employment law, adding senior practitioners who can handle high-stakes matters from first instruction through tribunal or settlement.
